Joe Barca is a poet from the Boston area. He has a partner, two children, and a wheaten terrier named Brady. He is a regular contributor to The Poetry Space_ podcast. He is a reader for Whale Road Review, and he will have a poem in the September 2024 issue of Rattle. Some of his      favorite poets are Mai Der Vang, Kevin Young, and Li-Young Lee. He is a fast talker and a slow runner.

Brian O’Sullivan, who teaches at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, is the Squad’s token English professor. He has unhealthy attachments to sestinas (Ep. 56) and to Bob Ross (Ep. 54). He claims to have said the third most academic thing Taylor Mali has ever heard (Ep. 65). He once drank beer in a coffin while visiting Edgar Allan Poe (Ep. 39). He randomly mentions his wife, Jen, in poems, so he is doing it here too."

Dick Westheimer has—in the company of his wife and writing companion Debbie—lived, gardened and raised five children on their plot of land in rural southwest Ohio. Poetry has become a third-act obsession for Dick since largely retiring in late 2019. Dick is a is a Rattle Poetry Prize finalist and has been the featured guest on “Rattlecast” in conversation with Rattle editor Timothy Green about Dick’s poetics, his self constructed “people’s MFA” and his emergence as a late-in-life convert to poetry. His chapbook, A Sword in Both Hands, Poems Responding to Russia’s War on Ukraine, raises funds for UkraineTrustChain. Dick enjoys his (too) large vegetable garden, picking bluegrass music with his neighbors, running and walking the trails on his and nearby farms, and gazing at the stars whenever night sky conditions permit.

Nate Jacob grew up in the Midwest of the USA, spent a few years in South America searching for the ultimate empanada, and currently resides in Star, Idaho, where he is a stay-at-home father to six of Earth’s finest citizens, husband to a woman who makes everything feel magical…even brussels sprouts. Most of his writing is done in carpool pickup lines, outside of dance team practices, quickly at red lights, increasingly often in a nook under the stairs, and on occasion in coffee shops and libraries around the area. He writes a lot about his life, his family, his philosophy and sometimes about food. But never about martians… never.
